Phil and Leesh suggested doing some Bare Island pre-wedding photos, a place near La Perouse none of us were familiar with. Sure, we’ve all seen it when we peer on the window on the side of the plane when coming in or out of Mascot but that fleeting glimpse doesn’t say a thing for how amazingly beautiful it actually is down there. (La Perouse is named after the French navigator who sailed into Botany Bay a few days after the first fleet arrived in 1788.)
We wandered down onto the beach and the rocks, and again it is another area of Sydney that feels a million miles from care, and all very reminiscent of a Pacific Island holiday.
The landscape winds its way to the ocean and you feel like exploring it all. So Phil and Leesh happily climbed over the rocks and held each other in the afternoon sunshine.
They scrambled over the obviously very popular Bare Island (there were a lot of people there in the middle of the week), saw a seal swimming past and waited for the sunset…
