Leighton and Lauren were married at The Tea Room, Gunners’ Barracks on Sunday. They had a very beautiful wedding on one of Sydney’s steamiest days! The humidity was never going to stop a wonderfully organised day from going ahead.
And the great thing about what we do is the participation in these very happy and cherished moments. It is an undeniable privilege to be involved.
It was an early start given their mid-morning wedding timing and the girls were in full preparation mode when we arrived. Lauren had three bridesmaids which included two Kristen’s – Kristen One, her sister and Princess-of-Honour, was helping out with a bit of sewing, and Kristen Two was doing all the girls hair, and quite beautifully too.
The non-Kristen bridesmaid is Amanda. Amanda gets married to Amos later in the year, who, co-incidentally, was one of Leighton’s groomsmen in addition to his two brothers.
That made for a really happy wedding party, in that everyone is so obviously close and friendly and happy to be with one another.
Lauren’s dad had a “first-look” at his beautiful daughter after she was ready. You’ve got to love these happy-sad times that mean so much to each family member. There’s a story to be told every moment. At a wedding, so often the focus is about the day, a little bit about the future, but for every person involved I see the stories of the past written in their eyes, “This is that little girl I held, fast asleep, in the middle of the night…”
Lauren had done a heap of work on details for the wedding day too – a photobooth was heaps of fun, there were jams and beautiful home made sweets for the guests to take home (I think Lauren’s grandfather had done a lot of work there!), there were lots and lots of historic family photos and a few from our recent engagement session placed right around the venue. It gave the place a really wonderful family feel.
The speeches were very funny all round. And from our point of view it was really lovely to have our blog post quoted from the engagement session when Lauren’s Dad spoke. And yes, it’s even more obvious to notice just how in love Lauren and Leighton are.
Congratulations and the happiest of marriages to you both.
