This is Hai and Tanya’s beautiful wedding day. We got round to Sergeants Mess in the late afternoon to prepare for the ceremony and it was peaceful and calm. A delightful contrast. The day started well too. Watching family members get ready for the big day is fun, seeing the normal routine of life interrupted by the extraordinary is a privilege to witness.
After photographing the preparations and very much enjoying conversation with Tanya’s Dad (who runs a business called cherub rubs – and check it out if you want a great and fully organic solution for skin care. Yes, that’s a personal recommendation!) I popped round to where Hai and his groomsmen were readying themselves and doing the work of stashing money into envelopes.
Then it was back to the house to witness Hai proving himself worthy enough to win Tanya’s hand in marriage. I love watching these games and, along with the brides family and bridesmaids, enjoying the sometimes humiliation, sometimes triumphs of the process. Great fun and a great tradition! So Hai passed well enough (does anyone ever fail) and after handing over enough red envelopes to the bridesmaids he was rewarded with his first look of the very beautiful Tanya in her gorgeous wedding dress.
Then it was off on our high weather adventure before the ceremony and reception at the very grand Sergeants Mess. I vividly remember the many toasts of the day and a never ending array of different Uncle’s loudly proclaiming, from amongst the guests, much happiness on the couple, with lots of glasses held high and lots of cheering and yelling. Just the way double happiness should be celebrated.
Congratulations Hai and Tanya,
