Our family portrait photography, could be for a party of one or a fabulous family of five. We believe that Sydney provides the most impressive backdrop, from ocean cliffs, to historic buildings and inner-city parklands. You’ll love dressing up in tuxedos, jeans or clown suits. We believe kids are great at choosing their own clothes, and even the adults clothes too! We love trying new locations, getting out of the studio, and into the city.

Sessions are approximately two hours long, can include up to 6 people. For $150 during the week or $200 on the weekend you will receive the time and talent of David. Each additional person is $25. Your photos will be ready for viewing within three weeks. No files, prints or products are included in this session fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe your photography style?

We have a very relaxed and candid style. However, while we aim for journalistic style coverage there needs be a moment for timeless, relaxed images of you both together. So during the ceremony and reception things run smoothly and naturally without any interference from us, but at some point during the day, we would like an hour (or more if possible) of time alone with you both to create some gorgeous images of you without anyone else around to distract you.

Are you a full time photographer?

Absolutely. And David spends a lot of time dreaming about photography when he's asleep too. We don't charge for the dreams.

What equipment do you shoot with?

These days it's pro gear. David has used Nikon since before he was a professional and carries back up equipment and far too many lenses and lighting.

We're interested in booking David, can we meet with you?

Yes, we have a studio in Wahroonga, on Sydney's North Shore where you can visit us, have a coffee and chat with us about the plans you have for your wedding day. We take after-hours appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Do you work with a second shooter?

David is the sole photographer at David Henry Photography. If you feel you need a second shooter then we are able to provide one at a cost of $650. Please let us know if you are concerned about only having one shooter, we can share with you some wedding galleries and you can compare weddings with David as the solo shooter, and those with a second shooter.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes, David does travel for weddings. He has photographed overseas and all around Australia. We will give you an invoice for direct reimbursement of travel expenses such as airfare, hotel and rental car - obviously, depending on your location.

Do you offer engagement sessions?

Yes we certainly do.

Do you offer albums?

Yes, yes and yes. We love albums! There's a wonderful variety of albums and books to chose from with different styles, colours, features and sizes. After your wedding we give you up to six months to make your photo selections (after this prices are subject to changes due to album production price rises). We give you two rounds of changes before we charge you for album design changes. From choosing your images to viewing the first draft of your album please allow four weeks, then two weeks for each round of changes. Once you approve the album it is sent to our (fantastic) album supplier for printing.

Are the photos edited?

We deliver about 800-1000 digital high-resolution photos from your wedding (depending on your hours of coverage). We shoot RAW files and all photos are edited for exposure and colour, before David's special recipe's are added. We retain copyright on all our photos, and we give you a written release in your contract that allows you to use the images for your own reproductions. We do not provide RAW (unedited) files for viewing or purchase.

What if it rains on my wedding day?

We won't just stand there gloomily watching the rain tumble down. The elements will do what they do of course, but with a little pre-planning, a good wet weather contingency plan takes the worry away. We've shot weddings in all conditions, and we're happy to spend time discussing wet-weather options with you in the lead up to your wedding. From umbrellas, actually going out in the rain, finding an indoor location for photos, or a beautiful verandah, there are plenty of options.

What if the unexpected happens and David can't shoot my wedding?

In that case he'd miss out on your company and watching the whole day unfold which he really, really enjoys. So he'd be pretty miffed! In the practical sense, David and Sarah would call on their numerous industry contacts to find a suitable replacement for your day.
