James and Kate are endearing, best of friends, given to pulling faces, making each other laugh, making others laugh, lovers of ice cream, procurers of exceptionally high-quality macaron’s, owners of a sweet tooth (more than one actually), and given to good taste in all else.
Kate and her Mum, with the rest of the family and many friends, made much of what we see here. I think it was 77 metres of bunting (sounds like the name of an alternative rock group) handmade with precision, hundreds of collected bottles filled with beautiful and varied flowers, and lots of signage.
And they thought of more things – gift bags and games areas for the children, brilliant music played by their friends, furniture bought from home to run with Kate and James fifties styling, a hat and sunscreen area (a mainly outdoor wedding held on a crystal clear day necessitates these!).
There were mountains of homemade biscuits (should I say cookies??), lots of bottled lollies for take-home gifts, a menu that exclusively catered to health needs (this was the first fully gluten-free wedding I’ve attended – more, please!
Check out the menu board and realise that the desserts were also gluten-free including the ice cream).
Include lots of scattered memorabilia including photographs of parents and grandparents, and scrabble boards with clever titles.
Guests showed up in their fascinating fifties finery (I just had to do that!).
Mindaribba House provided a beautiful backdrop for the wedding day. Gorgeous green grass and arching trees beside the Paterson River provided the natural beauty.
Kate and James said their vows under the trees of the backyard with the reception taking place in the front yard of the property.
Congratulations Kate and James. Enjoy NZ. Remember Australia!
