Jonathon and Julia’s wedding day revealed the best of Sydney, which was handy, because Julia’s family had flown in from Europe (she’s from Austria) to be greeted by some of our less inspiring wet weather. The day itself was gorgeous, it was so lovely to see Sydney in such wonderful light. It was my first time shooting at the Knox Chapel in Wahroonga (it is just down the road from us) and also my first time down at Bradleys Head.
We headed into a nearby Wahroonga street for some photo’s after the ceremony. Sarah had noticed the beautiful colours in the tree’s during the week and suggested it would make a lovely backdrop. The leaves covered the ground and turned out to be ideal for throwing…
We showed up at Bradleys Head slightly late in the day. The sun was almost gone but the light from the evening suddenly hit deep and lasting yellow’s and then red’s. A perfect harbour side view. Memorable for our Austrian contingent too! And no, contrary to what I said to Julia’s sister, it’s not like that every day. Unfortunately.
This was the last wedding reception to be held at Oatlands House prior to a redo. On the Monday they started demolishing the interior to do their new renovations, to be readied for later in the year. Jonathon and Julia’s wedding reception felt like a real slice of history because of that. The memories of their time there will be treasured, I’m sure.
My own memories of the wedding will be the way in which they held each other so lovingly and the delight with which Jonathon continued to look at his beautiful Julia.
Congratulations Jonathon and Julia. Thank you for trusting us with your beautiful and precious day.
Sidenote – Richard, their celebrant, and I know we know each other. We chatted during the night and we just couldn’t nail down how we actually know each other (you know that feeling? You know the person, but from where? Church? Weddings? Movie? TV? The shops?). So if you know Richard and you know me – try and help us before we both go nuts.
