Love these weddings with flavours from all over the world. Michael and Casey seemed to have guests from every corner of the globe for their wedding at Sergeants Mess (and have since honeymooned in some of the more spectacular parts too). Casey’s heritage is via Goa.
Casey looked beautiful. That dress. Wow. Detail laced upon detail. Casey’s bridesmaids, her sister and her friend, looked just as lovely too.
The preparations were in swing at the house, extra family staying from overseas, hair and make-up being done in the brand new back room (with the most fabulous glass walls looking at parkland beyond), Casey’s Mum and Dad thoughtfully running the odd jobs. And in amongst it all was Casey, that wonderful smile constantly showing itself.
A trip from the Hills District to North Sydney’s Mont Sant’ Angelo Chapel in cars bearing with KC (!!) number plates was a nice touch.
Michael and his brothers put their finishing touches together, flowers in lapels, moments before Casey’s arrival.
She stepped out of the car beaming, as did her parents, and then the bridal party collectively made their entrance into the chapel. They’ve stepped into the chapel, music playing from the quartet, and their faces have lit up. And as she got closer to Michael her smile got bigger and then quiet tears appeared as she hugged her parents before holding Michael’s hand.
They lit candles and remembered their families.
After the ceremony, and family photo’s, the reception was held at Sergeant’s Mess. A few photographs were taken just prior, at the nearby headland, before the bridal party took a break in the downstairs area of Sergeants Mess. That red room downstairs is such a highlight. A few portraits of Casey were very necessary there!
There was much dancing, talking, laughter throughout the evening.
Michael and Casey surprised everyone with a a ten piece band. They were fantastic (apparently having played at the opening night party for Baz Luhrmann’s Great Gatsby). The music of the era (twenties and thirties) made for a brilliant accompaniment to the formal wedding.
Michael’s brother gave a lovely short speech ending it in a very different way. He’d found a recording of Michael, from many years prior, playing Rachmaninov on the piano. He introduced that and left us to listen. It was rather brilliant.
The wedding at Sergeants Mess wound down later in the evening after much more dancing, and a DJ kept the energy levels and the happiness levels high.
Congratulations Michael and Casey.
