Weddings are always fun to photograph. No such thing as two similar weddings. Therefore there’s no such thing as the same shooting style for any wedding. In October Tara and Nathan had their Newcastle wedding, a sort of half-way space for both of them, given that they’re originally from Queensland and Victoria respectively. That’s their home city now though, and an excellent place it is. I spent many happy years there too. It’s always great to go back, to be reminded of what a liveable city it truly is.
Tara was the epitome of the beautiful bride; graceful, elegant and very calm.
Nathan’s Dad did the ceremony. I’ve seen a couple of fathers in the past do the honours for their children’s wedding. I’m amazed how calm they manage to be during a very emotional day – unless they’re just happy to get the nippers out the door of course!
The wedding was in a great place in the city itself called Bacchus. It’s a really beautiful room that’s had a rich history as a seaman’s mission, a soup kitchen, a theatre and entertainment hall. It fell into disrepair until two years ago when it was turned into this very grand space.
Congratulations Tara and Nathan. Thanks for letting us shoot your special day.
