Over the last few weeks we’ve had terrible news learning of the loss of two clients who were also our friends. Both losses have taken everyone by surprise as they’ve come totally out of the blue.
A few weeks ago we had the news that a lovely wife and mother of three passed away at 33 (I’d done their wedding when she was 19) and then this past weekend we had the news of a wonderful husband and father to two children succumbing to a heart attack while out jogging. He was only 31. I’d done their wedding earlier in the decade.
Of course everyone is left with the sadness and the very heavy hearts that remain when a life is cut all too short. Our sympathies are with the families and friends. It hurts. It really does.
In amongst that we’ve had our own news –
Friday week ago Sarah gave birth to Calvin (7 pound 5 and 51cm for those who like to know the facts of the catch) about 1pm after what was a fairly easy delivery. Thank goodness. Cause the last two had been anything but fun.
So we now have our little Cal home and all is well with him, Sarah and the girls. My recovery might take a little longer but I seem to be holding up quite well. For a man.
Lexie and Cesca love him very much and have been taking turns in cuddling and kissing their little brother as much as possible.
Photography is the collection of moments that often have no relevance or artistic value or reason for being UNTIL the reason becomes apparent – the evolution of change, the passing of time, the passing of loved ones.
It was a privilege to sit with the husband, the father, and help him sort out his photographs. He wanted to show the accumulation of a short life of experiences and memories that would otherwise exist only in the observers mind (only in his mind). And now, through those snapshots, those event photos, that wedding photography, the memories can be shared by more. Because they matter. Because life matters and we love those who live it.
Photography counts. It is not fleeting. Its value cannot be judged easily but it is invaluable.
Anyway here’s a look at a few of our irrelevant family snaps as our little family gets to know and love the new addition that is Calvin Henry…
Thanks for looking,
David
