Barbara and Daniel chose Berry Island Reserve for their Sydney Harbour Engagement Session. And it makes a great place for a location shoot. It’s just down the hill from Wollstonecraft Station and provides some lovely isolated views towards the city.
But its main feature is that it is very much Australian native bushland surrounded by the very beautiful Sydney Harbour. Eucalyptus trees pepper the sandstone rock, branches hang low so that leaves trail towards the waters edge.
We spent time walking around the nature path, occasionally leaving the path to stand on the rocks as inspiration struck and enjoying that feeling of being in Sydney while feeling like we were a thousand miles away.
As the evening light drew down we popped over to a tiny stone jetty that faces back to Berry Island Reserve (and is accessible by walking down 101 steps) and took a last few shots as the red evening turned into the blue night.
Daniel and Barbara, took advantage of the sunset hour for their session – that time of day when the light grows to its softest and warmest.
Barbara chose to do a hair and make-up trial with one of our favorite HMUA’s, Mel Sundana from Forever Make-up. We love Mel’s work and it’s always great to get such positive feedback from our shared clients.
And what made this session so good was the way Barbara and Daniel interacted with each other. Their concentration on each other, rather than thinking of how they should pose, allowed us to take beautiful and candid shots of their relationship. A perfect outcome!
