We would like to share Kieran and Rachel’s wedding at The Boathouse Palm Beach. As photographers on a wedding day, we walk into a deeply personal world. I’m always awed at how families deal and cope with one of the more emotional days in life’s calendar. Are multiple generations getting ready together or is it bridal party on their own? How much of the conversation lingers on the past and how much on the present and future?
The meaningful moments are quietly observed through the relationships. There are those gorgeous moments when handshakes are never enough; so mothers hold hands with daughters, and fathers hug sons; a grandparent waits for a moment before sidling up to quietly whisper their affection, to reminisce of very treasured memories, and to declare just how proud grandma or pa would have been. And a tear rolls.
Those who give speeches are lauded or feared, they create laughter, make us nod at the wisdom of life well lived and keenly seen, and recreate the memories of momentous people who were loved perfectly. And the best speeches help us love love even more and make us glad that two people found each other irresistible enough to spend the rest of their lives together.
We’re left to ponder is love the roll of a dice, is it circumstantial or is it hard work, is it happenstance, is it written in the stars, was it destined to always be? At the best weddings the question has already been answered.
Kieran and Rachel need to be together and they celebrated that simple fact by vowing their love, and dancing through the night… They also had one of the most weather threatening ceremonies possible with full scale hail alerts that hammered nearby parts of Sydney but thankfully left us largely unscathed.
But it did rain. And instead of heading inside we stayed out in it and took advantage of some fabulous clouds and light.
The Boathouse Palm Beach was a sensational choice for a wedding reception. As far removed from a traditional reception choice as you can get in a really, really great way (and for Home and Away fans, especially those with a link to the UK, it’s the first class choice).
A Wedding at the Boathouse Palm Beach is like going on a holiday to some distant and foreign land.
