Here’s just a little taste of Alex and Sonya’s beautiful wedding at Sydney’s amazing Gunners Barracks tearooms.
The sport of judo was their meeting point (Sonya is an Australian Olympic representative) from which friendship and love developed.
Sonya got dressed at her parents, looking beautiful in her gorgeousLora Eliss wedding dress. Her hair was done by Exquisite Bridal Hair and her makeup by Absolute Makeup.
The bridal bouquet for Sonya was made by Susan Avery, and sits on the grand piano. The backdrop is a detail from a really lovely photograph of the Centennial Park trees as taken by Sonya’s father.
With the few moments after the ceremony, and before darkness, we popped up to the headland above Gunners with the entire bridal party. It’s a wonderful location for some memorable photos of their wedding day, utilising the amazing view available, and then back down to join in the reception with their friends and family. As always there was great food, drink and service from the staff at Gunners Barracks.
Alex and Sonya had some of their wedding guests flying in from overseas and Gunners continues to delight visitors because of its history, the views over Sydney Harbour and around to the city, and perhaps the most overlooked aspect, the immediate connection to Australian bushland (something we might take for granted but it delights visitors being so close to the city).
Congratulations Sonya and Alex! We hope you had a wonderful wedding day.
If you’re taking the plunge into marriage and would love beautiful photography (and not just at Gunners Barracks) then it’s time to talk to Sarah or myself. We take compelling, elegant and timeless stills. We capture the most valuable images in the world. Yours.
