Hey, I’m David

It’s great to meet you

Sarah and I met in the year 2000. I was shooting her sister’s wedding, and I saw her, standing in her bridesmaid’s dress. She looked beautiful. Two years passed, and we came together at another wedding. We started talking, which turned into a long conversation, which turned into falling in love and getting married.

Today, I still love taking photographs, and I still love weddings. One of my greatest thrills at the end of a wedding day is hearing how the family and guests didn’t realise I was the photographer. I certainly do try and let the guests relax, and forget about the tall guy with the camera.

I’ve always been interested in every aspect of photography’s artistic processes. The capabilities of the digital era amaze me. The quality of the imagery produced by the equipment we use now surpasses anything we’ve ever experienced previously.

I live with Sarah, two lovely daughters, one cute son, a freezer always stocked with ice-cream, and the fragrance from a warm pot of tea.

I’m proud to showcase my work. I enjoy meeting my clients and I’d love to see you too, to capture your memories. Send me an email, make an appointment, and let’s get started.

My

Style

I photograph what unfolds, and yes, I also help craft and direct images. Is the success of an image centred on the construction of the photograph or on witnessing something more fundamental and more authentic? “But everything has to be perfect”. No, it really doesn’t.

The sometimes chaotic nature of who we are give us photographs that really tell the story of our personality, with more truth. Sure, it will show more imperfections, but that’s where our stories often dwell.

  • I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend David!

After seeing the gorgeous photos David took for a friends engagement and wedding, he was first on my list when planning my own big day. From the very start he welcomed us into their home and made us feel at ease even though we were feeling a bit daunted. Thanks to the engagement session and Davids unobtrusive style, by the wedding day we forgot he was there (in a good way!) and enjoyed just celebrating with our family and friends.
Now we have an album and photos that capture all the spontaneous moments and bring back one of the most magical days of our lives.

  • Thank so much for documenting what was one of the funnest days of our lives.

I hear it’s pretty typical for the groom to fear the wedding photo shoot and I expected to be no different. However, after Jess and I had our engagement photo session with David, we both realised we hadn’t chosen a typical photographer. David you have an incredible manner that made us feel completely at ease. You made us laugh when we needed to laugh, smile when we needed to smile, and pose when we needed to pose. Better still, you were able to disappear into the background when you didn’t need to be seen or heard. We can’t even remember seeing you during the ceremony yet our beautiful photos attest to your presence!

  • Wow, what can we say…

Thank you so much for being involved in one of the most special days of our lives.
You were both a dream team to deal with – from our first meetings and even now with all the proofing and selection of photos.
Thank you for the beautiful photos.”

My

Approach

The key to capturing natural looking wedding photos is to create a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for you as a couple. Here’s my approach to achieving a collection of photos you’ll treasure for years to come.

01.

Intimate

Before the big day, we’ll meet to discuss your preferences, expectations, and vision for your wedding photography. I’ll ask you some questions to get a sense of your personalities and the overall vibe of your wedding.

02.

Natural

The timing of your photography can make all the difference. I’ll help you plan your schedule to take advantage of the early morning or late afternoon when the light is soft and warm, or wait for the golden hour when the light is at its most magical.

03.

Candid

Ignore me, literally. Talk, laugh, touch, wander. I’m looking to capture moments that unfold naturally. I’m waiting for honest expressions, gestures, and interactions between you. I’ll use reflections, shadows, and other elements to add depth and interest.

04.

Authentic

Authenticity is an essential aspect of photography, and it is often the difference between a mediocre and an excellent photograph. I won’t ask you to pose. I capture the moment as it is and won’t manipulate your images with excessive editing.
