Amy is from Melbourne but more recently has made Newcastle her home. She had been ready to do a portrait portfolio session for a while. So she drove down the M1 to the Wahroonga and Waitara area to capture stunning photos.
During the Wahroonga portrait portfolio session, we shot in a few different North Shore locations that were benefitting from the afternoon setting sun. It created beautiful, varied lighting, and a few well-chosen backdrops incidentally helped make the scene for the various portraits. We wanted to ensure that Amy’s personality shone through the photos, and we tried a range of poses and expressions to capture her true essence.
As a portrait photographer, I love working with people from all walks of life. Each person brings their own story and character to the shoot, and it’s my job to capture that essence in the photos.
Amy is blessed with natural beauty, but it’s a goal for portrait photography to show the individual’s energy, spirit and character.
We made a large wall print of a favourite Amy portrait a few weeks after her Wahroonga portrait portfolio session. Of course, there are always good reasons to print; apart from any other, the images are complete. After all, apart from a print’s longevity, the great thing about the printed photograph is that it can be seen without doing anything extra. These days we scroll through screens to see all our content. And it also shows who and what is essential in our lives.
Looking back at Amy’s photos, so many gorgeous shots deserve to be printed. However, choosing just a few favourites is always challenging, as each has unique qualities. In addition, each image has a distinct feel and atmosphere, from the warm, golden light of the late afternoon sun to the cool, moody tones of the shaded evening.
