Todd and Laura arranged to have a Q Station wedding on the North Head at Manly, in the natural beauty of the Australian bush overlooking Sydney Harbour.
They’d done their homework and ended up selecting this location, not just because it offered so many possibilities. Still, it came with added bonuses, such as accommodating staff, that broad Sydney vista, and excellent catering.
Not everything worked the way they’d planned, but that’s where we discovered the location had real possibilities, despite the expectation that where we were was primarily a landscape outlook.
An overcast day, and the occasional shower, meant we were working with less light than hoped for, but this is Sydney, which now seems to have Melbourne’s four seasons in one day.
Sunset hit quickly after the ceremony, so we made the most of the Q Station Glasshouse as a photographic location. That building and its immediate surroundings really helped give us some beautiful imagery. A glasshouse is a challenging place to photograph when the light is low but really rewarding once ways are found to make it work.
In quick time we were able to capture what Laura and Todd wanted and give them much more.
Todd and the groomsmen got ready nearby. Laura and her bridesmaids did their bridal preparations in one of the cottages at the Q Station.
Family and friends met on the outcrop overlooking the city for the ceremony. They enjoyed the drinks and canapés after the ceremony while family photographs were happening.
We were reminded that Covid is still affecting plans. Their celebrant, unfortunately, came down with it just prior. However, he arranged an excellent replacement who allowed the ceremony to feel just as seamless, humorous, and thoughtful as Todd and Laura could hope.
There are little things to note. Laura loved the pockets on her dress. One bridesmaid on crutches. The flowers by Liz O’Toole were beautiful. Great bridal parties make things lots of fun. Dancing is always a good idea.
If you don’t want to have everyone travelling but want to feel like you’re away from the city, a Q Station wedding is a brilliant place to get married
