Careful thought and preparation goes into every wedding. This day is the culmination of lots of organisation, lots of talking, lots of dreaming, lots of arrangement, details lovingly attended too, because it’s meant to be the joining together of two individuals, two families, brought together by the greatest of all things, love. And that’s worth embracing and celebrating.
The simple facts of this particular celebration are: –
Another beautiful Sydney morning dawned on Dave and Katie’s Concord Golf Club wedding day and remained that way throughout.
They readied themselves in Epping, with Dave and the boys getting ready at his parents’ home, and Katie and the girls at Dave and Katie’s new home. I say it every time but there is always something very special about being able to witness those last minutes of family time together (before the countdown clock stops for the ceremony). These are precious moments. They are the tenderness of a father for a daughter, the reminders of a mother to a son, the words of a brother to a sister, the hugs of a family rejoicing.
On to St Marks at Drummoyne for the ceremony. Some beautiful singing heard (especially Ave Maria) and lots to keep an eye on amongst the ceremony of the vows and commitments. Dave, with his especially infectious laughter, had us all smiling and laughing at his reaction to, momentarily dropping the ring.
Family photos outside the church before heading round in the beautiful Jag and Rolls Royce to Concord Golf Club. We wandered amongst the trees and did some of our bridal group shots in the lovely settings as the sun dipped below the horizon.
Listening to the speeches is always a treat too. It’s so great that so many people have such wonderful things to say about the people they love the most, their friend, their brother, their sister, their daughter and son… It’s always great when speeches have humour too and these were no exception. But they’re always at their best (photographically too) when the words of the speaker strike such deep emotion that really can be seen. Love, sadness, happiness. All in one.
Thanks Dave and Katie for sharing your beautiful day. Congratulations and the happiest of marriages to you!
