Jason and Toni really did have a beautiful Sydney Pier One wedding day. They both got ready at their respective parents houses in Wahroonga and Epping, surrounded by their families, some of whom had flown a very long way. It’s always interesting to see the different approaches to the wedding day in the family homes and I especially took note that Jason’s sister and her husband were busy putting framed pictures on the walls – beautiful shots, almost abstracts of the bows of boats in water. Very often the Mum’s are busy, busy, busy until the last minute, and so often doing something with food, making sure no one goes hungry. The Dad’s are often checking their own cameras or video’s, and as often as not, printing out a page or two of speech.
The ceremony was held at All Saints Church Hunters Hill (somewhat famous as the scene of a wedding in ABC TV’s Rake – and good news if you are a fourth series is coming), and it is quite a lovely church too.
Family photographs were done outside in the gardens before heading into town via a stretch limousine while Jason and Toni drove themselves into town in a Mercedes sports car. And they looked quite the happy couple cruising across the Gladesville Bridge at Birkenhead.
It was great to, again, spend time with a favourite Sydney wedding vendor Matthew, from Inkster Productions. We took the bridal party into Martin Place for some video and stills and then back to the very beautiful surrounds of Pier One, next to our iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
A tea ceremony, just prior to the reception, allowed Toni to dazzle in a very beautiful red dress. The families passed cards, greetings and gifts back and forth with lots of happiness and laughter. From a photographers perspective it is such a brilliant thing to witness these moments and help turn them into memories.
Lots of great speeches, excellent food, wine and a little dancing ensured a very happy start to Jason and Toni’s new life.
