Larissa’s Wahroonga wedding preparations meant getting dressed at her family home in Turramurra. In contrast, Scott got ready at their home, where the ceremony and reception would be held, in nearby Wahroonga. A home wedding makes things more memorable, often quite simply because it is home. The beauty of a home wedding is having it the way you want it, in the space you know, with the people you love. How wonderful to be able to say your vows to each other in a place that is truly yours.
For Scott and Larissa, their vows were to be shared in the front yard, with all the guests seated across the front garden and room for the bridal car to slide into the driveway for their Wahroonga wedding.
Larissa didn’t have to travel far, as it was only a short drive from the family home up to Scott and Larissa’s house, which they’d spent time preparing for the occasion. The bridal car brought Larissa right into the drive. Beside the driveway, everyone was seated waiting for her arrival – which made for quite a scene. All the chairs were laid out, facing the front of the house,
The cake cutting took place in the front, with a mini courtyard providing enough space for everyone to scoot in. The speeches were given from that intimate area, which made sense acoustically, too (which is part of a practical aspect of having an event at home). Food and drinks were served inside the main living areas and flowed into the backyard.
With one-half of Larissa’s family flown in from France, it was lovely to be witness to these different experiences, to see a family gathering around such an event and celebrating it in their way, to hear new voices, and to realise yet again, that the love of family isn’t diminished by distance and time.
Scott and Larissa’s Wahroonga wedding was more than just a ceremony; it was an unforgettable experience that blended the intimacy of home with the joy of shared moments. From heartfelt vows exchanged in the front yard to the laughter and toasts that resonated throughout the house, every element came together to create a cherished memory for Larissa, Scott, and their loved ones.
Looking to tie the knot in a wonderful celebration with your family and friends, then look no further than your home, like Scott and Larissa’s Wahroonga wedding.
